GRANDMA SAID makes use of two magical hair care ingredients: stinging nettle and tamanu oil. It intensely moisturizes and conditions, and is perfect for weak hair that needs more volume. Stinging nettle stimulates hair growth, improves shine and the appearance of hair.

Native to Southeast Asia, tamanu oil is a great source of hair nutrients, used to regenerate and restore hair and scalp to its healthy state. GRANDMA SAID is very thick in consistency and full of aroma: it naturally smells like freshly cut grass and raw nuts. The brownish-green oil is pressed from tamanu nuts and is rich in nutrients (linoleic, oleic, palmitic and stearic acids.) For its properties, tamanu oil is often used on broken, chemically treated and weak hair.

Cedarwood, rosemary, and juniper essential oils both stimulate your scalp and give GRANDMA SAID shampoo it's resinous, woodsy scent.

Relief for sensitive scalp

Over the past year, I have tried many shampoos sourced from natural ingredients to alleviate daily scalp itch, irritation, and increased hair loss. I'm allergic to most added fragrances and have an overactive immune system, with new allergies yearly. This is the best product I've tried, and it resolved my scalp itch, which I've been living with for years. The fragrance is unpleasant to me and stronger than I imagined, but the outcome is worth it. Of note, I don't smell the tamanu oil over styling products I use. I've switched to bars and eliminated plastic as much as possible, and I highly recommend this shampoo bar for sensitive scalps. For context, I have 2C waves or 3A curls most days and am always battling frizz. This does seem to flatten my roots more than usual on day 2, but eliminating irritation is worth it.
